Aug. 31 -- The school board of this city has unanimously tendered the Superintendency of the city schools to county Supt. T. G. Allen and he has accepted.
Lower Fox Creek school district #14, has decided to have a school this winter if they can find a teacher.
The eight room furnished Union Hotel is put up for sale by Mrs R. G. Ferlet.
The Cottonwood Falls mill started grinding wheat.
Sept. 4 -- Edwin T. Pratt of Ca. dies. He lived in the Falls many years and was well know as its foremost druggist. He built the stone drugstore under the opera house, which was called Pratt's Music Hall.
Sept. 7 -- Viola Gillett & Hugh Farris are married.
J. W. Holsinger has moved his livery stable business into the old Evans barn on Main street.
Lon Atchinson is the photographer at Strong City.
The Levi Pinkston family at Cedar Point is low with typhoid fever.
Sept. 11 -- The Cassoday State Bank has opened its doors. The carpenters have begun the carpenter work on the P. C. Jeffery's house in Elmdale. A bargin, house, 9 rooms, 6 lots, $1,000. J. W. McWilliams, Agent. Fred Williams & Grace McDonald are wed. Sept. 14 -- E. Vay Johnson & Pearl Brandley are the teachers at Matfield Green this term. C. Ray Patton & Lula Pratt of Cedar Point are united in marriage. The Chase County High School began its fourth year with an enrollment of 115. Sept. 18 -- Mr. Holz has sold his interest in the Holz & Baldwin Billard Hall & Bowling Alley to his partner C. E. Baldwin. Mr. Holz has taken a position with the Gregory Bros. The new Farmers State Bank of Cedar Point will open on Sept. 18th. The infant baby of Mr. & Mrs Dave Mercer has died. Mr. & Mrs Wm. Stenzel, Sr. who have been residents of Collett Branch for about twenty-eight years have moved to Elmdale. A son is born to Mr. & Mrs Claude Laloge. Dr. F. T. Johnson of the Falls has received and placed in his office an X-ray & Static machine. School teachers for this term are: Elsie Rogler, Rosa Eastman, May Crawford, Gladys Hunt, Eula Finley and Rosa Groundwater. Sept. 25 -- N. Gosler has bought the stock belonging to H. W. Hafer in the Matfield Green State Bank and will succeed Mr. Hafer as cashier. Mr Dave McKee is the President of the bank. Harvey Giger of Elmdale has his new residence almost completed. The Hunt Ranch at Bazaar was sold to a Missouri man. It contains 640 acres and is better known as the Lot Leonard place. Dave and Paul Cartter have left for Hot Springs, South Dakota, to attend the National Coursing Meet. They took nineteen dogs and their trainer.
