     Oct. 23, 1906 -- Ed Crocker of Matfield is building one of the largest barns in the county. It is 86 feet long by 42 feet wide and is set on a foundation of abasement of stone ten feet in height.

     One of the saddest deaths of the year in this county was that of W. T Collier of Homestead who was kicked by a mule with both feet in the abdomen.

     Miss Emily Dukes school at Elmdale has been closed on account of diphtheria.

     Oct. 26 -- Charles M. Remy of Emporia was married to Minnie Harlan of Matfield. Rev. W. A. Parker performed the ceremony in his home.

     Mr. & Mrs Garret Pendeville have a baby girl.

     The Frank Byrne family have left for Cherryvale to make their home and Pat Sauble has bought the blacksmith shop in Cedar Point and will continue the business.

     Oct. 30 -- T. J. Ryan has sold his interest in the One Minute Hotel to his brother Al Ryan.

     Wm. LaCoss has sold the J. T. Overstreet farm at Homestead to John Bragg.

     They have begun to throw out the dirt for the foundation of the new church at Homestead. Chas. Deering is the Treasurer of the church.

     A crowd collected to charivari Mr. & Mrs "Cook" Boblitt who were married recently.

     Sheriff Gloyd has just purchased the Hymer Mercantile from Mr. Spell.

     Nov. 2 -- J. E. Bocook is now delivering the ballots to judges of election in the various precints.

     John Osborn has opened up a new grocery store in the Falls, in the building just north of the Central Hotel.

     H. B. Osborn is the champion potato raiser on Cahola.

     Badger Bros. hauled a big load of lumber up Middle Creek to use on their ranch.

     Nov. 6 -- C. A. Cowley has sold his farm in Cedar Township to J. T. Overstreet of that place.

     Mrs Harriet Thomas, wife of S. P. Thomas of Matfield township has died. Mrs Thomas was one of the oldest residents of that township.

     Nov. 9 -- Mrs C. H. Hofmann & Mrs Chas. Martze were out collecting money to put a better fence around the Strong City cemetery.

     Chas. Harden has installed an electric piano in the basement of the auditorium for the benefit of the roller skaters.

     Mr. J. M. Yoakem is leaving Homestead to go with his daughter to Calif. to live.

     Mr. & Mrs Chas. Rice celebrate twenty-five years of marriage at Strong City.

     The electric street lights were put in at the Falls and are lighting up the city.

     Jordon Lantry son of H. E. Lantry dies in Kansas City and will be laid to rest in the Strong City Catholic cemetery.
