Crofoot, John W

John W. Crofoot was born March 24, 1927, Newton, Kansas to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Crofoot. He attended school his first ten years in Newton and Florence his last two years of high school, graduating in 1944. He attended Kemper Military School Junior College 1944-45. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1945 and was discharged in 1946. He entered Kansas State University in 1946 and attended for two years.

He was married to Marian Lucille Hurst, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Hurst, Ness City, Kansas. He is engaged in Livestock and farming with his father Ray and brother-in-law, Claire Robinson at Cedar Point.

In 1957 he started Western Associates, Inc., a Specialty Advertising Sales firm now having twenty salesmen over Kansas. In 1956 he served as advance man for Secretary of Agriculture, Ezra Benson, working for Republican National Committee. In 1957 he served as District Commander 4th District American Legion, served as State Chairman, Kansas American Legion Rehabilitation and Child Welfare Committees.

He has served over twenty years as Republican Precinct Committeeman, served two years as Chase County Republican Chairman. Has served past four years as Advisor at American Legion Boys State, is active in Kansas Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas State University Alumni Association. He is a member of the Methodist Church. He was appointed to fill unexpired term in the Kansas State Senate in 1971 to succeed Mrs. Walter Porter for the 12th District serving on various committees in that capacity.

He has three children, David, Cedar Point, Pam (Mrs. Steve Hett) , Marion and James, Cedar Point.
