Zebulon Partridge
Zebulon and Maria Partridge,
Harold E and Ella Rebecca Freeborn Partridge
Zebulon and Marie lived in the Bazaar communitee of Chase County. In 1874 a few memberd of the Methodist Church denomination met and formed what was known as the Bazaar methodist Episcopal Church. For years they met and worshipped in the same stone school house that still exists today as a community center. Some of the members of those early days and up to the 1890's were Frand and Mary alford, J H and Katherine Barker, R H and Mrs Chandler, Charles, Eugene Levi and Mamie Chandler, Mr and Mrs. Putt Evans, Katherine Gleason, John Randall, Juliette Leonard, Mary, Nettle and Minnie Leonard, Mary Manley, A L Morrison, Russel Oles, Pauline Oles, Fred William and Perley Oles, your Z. Partridge, M and H Eand E R Partridge, A Z Scribner, John and Carrie Sharp, Delia Stout, Dow Steadman and Rachel Steadman, William and S A Tomlinson, J B Woodworth and Jessie Woodworth, Delia White and Louie White, A Veburg, E J Wakefield, Mr and Mrs George Yeager, Adeline Rogler, J K Warren, and Mrs A A Warren and Kenyon Warren.
The early Settlers of the Prairie Hill area included Rev. J G Freeborn who settled on Prairie Hill in 1872, taking as a claim the E1/2 of NE1/4 of Sec. 24-T20-R7. He was a Congregational minister,. He shipped in two car loads of nursery stock, mostly fruit trees, shade trees, and shrubbery, which he sold over a large part of the county. No doubt Chase County was a prettier place because he lived here. At one time he had the finest front yard in Chase County. His family were Mrs. Mary Coe Jennie Price, Aggie Moore, Ella Partridge, Dave and Ada Wood.
The marriage certificate exists at present for Harold C and Ella R in 1878. At present all the old marriage certificates are in St. Louis going through a preservation process of being encased in special plastic and bound in volumes for the Chase County Historical Society. You will be able to purchase a copy of it when it returns if you send for it to the Chase County Historical Society.
No there are no burials for the Partridges listed in Chase County Kansas. I also checked the Funeral records and there are no Partridges listed.
Harold and Ella lived in Kansas until about 1891 then moving to Chicago, Illinois. On the 1900 census Harold and Ella are listed showing that they had both been married for 21 years and that they had six children and five are living. Namely, Arthur F born Jul 1880, age 19 born in Kansas; Beatrice M daughter born May 1883, age 17 born in Kansas; Ada M, daughter born Feb 1886, age 14 in Kansas; Harold A , son born Sept 1888, age 11, born in Kansas; and Charles E, son, born Sept 1891, age 8 born in Kansas. This record is in Chicago, Cook County, Ward 30, Illinois. 1900 Census.
