SMITH BROTHERS "Good Things to Eat"

Smith Brothers Store was started originally in 1860 by W.S. Smith, with his sons Sherry (Chick) and J.B. (June) Smith. After the father's death, and later the death of Chick Smith, the younger brother, D.M. (Tad), joined in the firm partnership. Tad managed the business during the time June served as postmaster of Cottonwood Falls and later as sheriff of Chase County. Upon completion of two terms as sheriff, June joined Tad actively in the business.

The store was a credit to the community for over fifty years, operated under the name of Smith Brothers - "Good Things to Eat."
