Stogsdill Family

My maternal grandmother was Janie Mae Stogsdill.
My maternal great-grandfather was Charles Edward Stogsdill.
My maternal 2nd great-grandfather was James Charles Stogsdill. He was born in Decatur Co., Indiana and then went to Clark Co., Illinois and then onto Macon Co., Illinois and onto Lincoln Co., Kansas, and then onto Chase Co., Kansas.

James worked as a brakeman for the Illinois Central and Midland Railroad. His run was Indiana to Illinois. Then he became switchman on the Wabash in Decatur, Illinois.

James' father John Morris Stogsdill was born in Pulaski Co., Kentucky and died in Clark Co., Illinois or Decatur Co., Indiana. John went back and forth between Clark Co., Illinois, and Decatur Co., Indiana. I think it was because his parents were in Decatur Co, Indiana.

James' grandfather, Daniel Stogsdill was a Baptist Minister in Indiana. Daniel started Baptist Churches throughout Indiana. Daniel is buried in My Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery south of Greensburg in Decatur Co., Indiana. He is listed in a book of Indiana Baptist Ministers.

There was some Indian blood in the family of my maternal great-grandmother Rose Anna (Leathers) Stogsdill, wife of my great-grandfather Charles Edward Stogsdill. Rose Anna's great-grandfather, Jonathan Leathers was buried near Paoli, in Orange Co., Indiana. So my grandmother Janie Mae (Stogsdill) Marsh's ancestors came from Decatur and Orange Co., Indiana.
