Clark, James Layton James L. Clark, 77, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. A military grave-side service was Tuesday, Sept. 21, in Strong City Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Schneider of Hesston United Methodist Church officiating and Military Honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
James Layton Clark was born Oct. 10, 1926, at Melrose to Fred C. and Emma Burnside Clark. He married Jean C. Collins. They were divorced. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Clark worked for Crofoot Cattle Company
James L. Clark
and Hillcrest Manor Truck Stop in Strong City. He then worked for Hesston Corporation in Hesston and was a final assembler for Excel before he retired in 1989. He was a charter member of the Hesston United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Strong City. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Wichita.
He is survived by a son, James L. Clark Jr. of Gladstone, Mo.; two daughters, Victoria Jean Fredrickson of Stafford and Joy Delane Sanderson of
Toronto; a sister, Ola Faye Adcock of Strong City; his former wife, Jean C. Ivey of Stafford; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Viola Divelbiss, Roberta Clark and Helen Louise Clark; and three brothers, Frank H. Clark, Harold C. Clark and Raymond Clark.
Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
