Cress, Walker

Two-year-old Walker Cress apparent drowning victim.

Walker Cress, 2-year-old son of Brandon and Carrie Cress of rural Burns, was pronounced dead late Saturday, Jan. 24, at a Wichita hospital, officials said.

Walker was discovered in Cedar Creek, which flows near his grandparents' home six miles south of Cedar Point, Saturday afternoon. Chase County dispatch was notified at approximately 1:30 p.m., said Chase County Sheriff Gerald Ingalls. Both Chase County EMS and the Florence ambulance service responded to the emergency call.

The Florence service transported Walker to the hospital in Marion. From there he was transported by LifeWatch Helicopter to a Wichita hospital. Efforts to resuscitate him failed.
