Heskett, "Frank" Benjamin Franklin

Dies in Hospital, Strong City Man is Buried, Sunday afternoon in the Cemetery at Elk.

A life-long Chase Countian, Frank Heskett, died Friday in the Newman Memorial Hospital at Emporia after an extended illness. He has been at the home of a sister-in-law, Mrs. Della Darner, in Strong City, until a few days before his death when he was taken to the Emporia hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon by Rev. Dwight L. Patton at the McKenzie Chapel in Cottonwood Falls. Burial was in the Elk cemetery. Mrs. Patton, accompanied by Mrs. H G Gentry, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Jesus Lover of My Soul," and "Just as I am".

Benjamin Franklin Heskett, son of Seldon and Mary Heskett, was born in a log-cabin at Hymer, February 29, 1864, and was 76 years, 1 month, and 12 days of age when he died, April 12,1940 in Emporia. He is survived by two half sister, Mrs. Ida Sherffius, of Salina, Kans.; Mrs Grace Swift of Hutchinson, and Mrs. Stella Kinnison of Americus, and numerous other relatives and friends. His sister-in-law, Mrs. Della Darner cared for him during the last year of his life.

Frank Heskett was a kindly man, one who through the years preferred to walk life's pathway alone. He had lived all his life in Chase County and will always be remembered kindly by his friends.

Wed, April 17, 1940 Chase County Leader-News: Death of Frank Heskett. Funeral services for Benjamin F. Heskett whose death occurred in Emporia, Friday, were held from the McKezie Funeral chapel in this city at 1:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. Dwight L. Patton, pastor of the Cottonwood Falls Methodist church, preached the sermon. Mrs Patton sang, "Jesus, Love of My Soul", and Beautiful Isle of Somewhere, accompanied by Mrs. Gentry on the piano. Interment was in the Elk cemetery.

Mr. Heskett was the son of Seldon and Mary Heskett, pioneers of Chase county. He was born at Hymer in one of the first long cabins erected there on Feb 29 1864. He never married. He was in his seventy-sixth year at the time of his death. He spent the most of his life on the farm and had lived in this county all of his life. He is survived by two half sisters, Mrs. Ida Sherffius, of Salina, Kans., and Mrs. Stella Kennison, of Americus; a niece, Mrs. Grace Swift of Hutchinson, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Della Darner, who has taken care of him during the past year,
