Tefft, Lois Marie

Lois Marie Yenzer Tefft, 88, resident of Alterra Sterling House, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Clear Bridge Cottage in Topeka.

Lois Marie Yenzer, the daughter of Seward A. and Margaret Wilson Yenzer was born Sept. 17, 1915, at the family home northeast of Saffordville. She graduated from Toledo Township High School in 1934.

She married Clifford G. Tefft on Nov. 23, 1941, at the United Methodist Church in Emporia. He died April 14, 1975. A son, Kenneth Lee Tefft died Sept. 3, 1966.

Mrs. Tefft was a member of Saffordville United Methodist Church, the Jomaria Charter Order of Eastern Star Chapter 25, Cottonwood Falls, where she was Worthy Matron and Grand Teller in 1966 and District Aide in 1976 and 1977 as well as several other offices. She was a member of Toledo Township Board of Chase County for 30 years.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by a sister, Vyrel Bradbury Nitcher of Uniontown; a brother Mack Yenzer, Emporia; and five grandchildren.

Inurnment services where held Saturday, Jan. 10, at Hillside Cemetery, Toledo, with Reverend Elaine Burleigh officiating. Special services were conducted by the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 25. Memorial contributions may be made to Kenneth Lee Tefft Memorial Scholarship Fund at Emporia State University in care of Charter Funerals, 501 W. 6th Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
