Uhl, Phillip George

Mrs. Henry Schrumpf, of this place and her sister, Mrs. Fred Kaltenbacker, of Saffordville, and her brother, Wm. Uhl and Mrs. Uhl, of Peabody were called to Lookout, Oklahoma, Monday by the death of their brother, Phillip G Uhl.

Mr. Uhl died at the St. Anthony Hospital in Dodge City, Kansas, September 25th. He lived in this county for a number of years as a youth but the greater part of his life had been spent in Oklahoma.

Mr. Uhl was born Nov. 16th, 1870, at Mariem, Ill. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Uhl. At the age of fifteen years he moved to Chase county with his parents and grew to young manhood here.

He was married on Oct. 4th., 1886, to Miss Etta A. Hayes, of Elmdale. In the fall of 1901 the family moved to Lookout, Oklahoma, and that place had since been the family home.

Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Uhl. One child, Frank, is dead. The other eleven children with Mrs. Uhl survive. These children are Mrs. R. V. Mitchell, of Grand Junction, Colorado; Mrs. Arthur Doty, of Lookout, Oklahoma; Mrs. J. H. Brunkert, of Dodge City, Kansas; W. E. Uhl, of Wilmore, Kansas; F. P. Uhl, of Beatrice, Nebraska; Mrs. C. A. Williams, of Freedom, Oklahoma; George Uhl, Jim Uhl, Grace Uhl, Dolly Uhl and Irene Uhl, all of Lookout, Oklahoma.

Mr. Uhl also leaves eleven grandchildren and four brothers and sisters. His brothers and sisters are Wm. Uhl, Peabody, Val. Uhl, of Emporia, Mrs. Henry Schrumpf, of this city, and Mrs. Fred Kaltenhacker, of Saffordville. Mr. Uhl's death was caused from pneumonia. The funeral services were held at the family home at Lookout and, internment was in the Lookout cemetery. Phillip George Uhl, a brother of Mrs. Henry Schrumpf of Cottonwood Falls and Mrs. Fred Kaltenbacker of Saffordville, died Friday at the St. Anthony Hospital in Dodge City after a short sickness with pneumonia.

Mr. Uhl formerly lived in Chase County and will be remembered by many of the older residents. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the home near Lookout, Okla., and interment was in the cemetery there.

Mr. and Mrs. Kaltenbacker and daughter, Lottie, Mrs. Schrumpf, and Mr. and Mrs. Will Uhl of Peabody drove to Oklahoma to attend the funeral.

The deceased was born November 15, 1870, at Mariene, Ill. At the age of 16 he moved with his parents to Chase County and on October 4, 1896, was married to Etta A. Hayes at Elmdale. In the fall of 1901 the Uhls moved to Lookout, Okla. and have resided there since. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Uhl and all but one, who died in infancy, and Mrs. Uhl are left to mourn his death.

The children are Mrs. R. V. Mitchell, Grand Junction, Colo,; Mrs. Arthur Doty, Lookout, Okla.; Mrs. J. H. Brunkert, Dodge City; W. E. Uhl, Wilmore, Kans.; F. P. Uhl. Beatrice, Neb.; Mrs. C. A. Williams, Freedom, Okla.; and George, Jim, Grace, Dolly, and Irene of the home. He leaves also two brothers, Valentine Uhl of Emporia and William Uhl of Peabody, besides the two sisters mentioned.
