Query: My ancestors William Rogers, Sr., and
his wife lived in the Baxter Springs,
Cherokee County area sometime between 1850
and 1861. The wife of William was Matilda
Ellery Conley (or could be Corley--paper
I have is difficult to read), and I know
she died in Baxter Springs in 1861. Their
daughter was Amanda Jane Rogers and she was
married to Henry Clay Fields in 1861 in
Baxter Springs. She had at least one brother
that I know of who also lived with the family
in Baxter Springs--William Rogers, Jr.
Any information on this family would be
much appreciated. After the death of
Matilda, both William Jr. and Sr. enlisted
in the Confederate Army the same year of
death. Amanda Jane and Henry C. Fields
moved to an area of what is now Pryor,
Mayes County, OK.

Query: I am looking for a Sophia Starkneather who married James Peters. This woulod be in the early 1800's, before Charles E.'s time. Sophia and James had a daughter Josephine Henrietta who died in 1917 and had a daughter 1882, so Josephine was likely born in the 1850s or 40s which would make Sophia Starneather (Starkweather?) born probably in 1820's or teens.

If you have any info on Starkweathers in Kansas about that time I would be grateful.
