Searching for info regarding my Afro-American gg aunt, Kate (nee May) Brown, who lived on Wyandotte St. in Baxter Springs. When her Tennessee sister died in 1949, Kate was listed in the obituary as still living and she was 104 years old at the time. I have the family slave genealogy back to the late 1700's. Any info from the census, a newspaper clipping regarding her death, or info of her descendants will be appreciated.

From: Colleen Lill sassenach@home.com
Date: Saturday, October 07, 2000 10:05 AM

I am trying to find information on my ggrandmother's brother, Cassius Taylor. He was the marshall in Baxter Springs during the early 1870's. In June 1872, he was murdered by the town mayor JR Boyd as the result of a long standing feud.

I would like to know: what happened to JR Boyd? Was he tried and convicted?
Where is Cassius buried?
Was Cassius ever married?

Would appreciate any help.
