Topic: Bavart, Saala, Frere in Carona
From: Kathee Bavart chattykathee@yahoo.com
Date: Wednesday, January 30, 2002 03:24 PM

My gr. gr. grandfather, Louis Bavart, settled in Carona, KS upon arriving in this country in 1906. His wife, Isabel, and children (Louise, Germaine, Lea(h), Marthe, and George) followed in 1907. Louis' sister, Israel Bavart Saale/a, and niece, Emilienne Saale/a traveled with Isabel & kids.

Louise Bavart married Alfred Frere in Columbus, KS on 29 Jul 1911. Their first two daughters, Matilda and Isabel, were born in Carona. Their last two daughters, Edna and Alfreda, were born in Coalton, OK (1916 & 1918).

I'm hoping to find more information about where Louis lived and worked while in Carona (I already know he was a miner). Are the kids (Louise, Germaine "Dutch", Leah, Martha, George and Emilienne) in any school photographs? What school did they attend? When did the families leave Carona and go to Oklahoma (Coalton, Schulter)?

Israel Bavart Saala and her daughter Emilienne are of particular interest. Several older relatives have mentioned them, but not what became of them. Israel's husband (no one can remember his name) supposedly died in WWI. We've lost touch with this branch of the family, and I'd like very much to find cousins from this line.
