DEATH OF CHARLES HESTON

Died in Hospital at Topeka On Monday Afternoon

Charles Heston, father of the Heston brothers of this city, died of old age in the state hospital at Topeka, Kan., Monday. August 11. His remains were embalmed and shipped to Goodland in care of Bower & Sons, undertakers, arriving here Tuesday. The funeral was held from the home of his son. Marsh Heston, on East Eleventh street Wednesday at 3 p.m.. Rev. Stelson of Kanorado, officiating, and interment was made in the Goodland Cemetery.

Mr. Heston was one of the early settlers of Sherman county, and was a man highly respected by those who knew him. Nearly ten years ago his health broke down and ever since he has been in feeble condition. Naturally having a strong constitution he lived to a great old age.  Had he lived until his birthday in March he would have been 90 years old.

Charles Heston was a veteran of the Civil war. having enlisted in Co. H, 14th Illinois Volunteers Infantry in June 1864 and was mustered out at the close of the war. He was a pensioner under the law of 1890, and a member of the G. A. R. in Illinois.
