ELISHA McNEW.

  Elisha McNew, was born October 14, 1840 in Campbell county, Tennessee, aged at his death, Oct. 3, almost seventy-seven years.  He was married to Sarah E. Rogers Nov. 19, 1868, and ten years later came to Burlingame, Kansas.  Of seven children born to them five survive:  Miss Rhoda and Charles McNew of this place; Mrs. Anna David of Newton, and William and James of Minneapolis.

  Mr. McNew was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Co. B, 8th Tenn. Vol. Cav., Army of the Cumberland.  Although he had lived these many years on the farm southwest of Burlingame, he suffered until the day of his death from infirmities incident in his army service.  Mrs. McNew passed away just two years ago, and since that time he has received the loving care of a dutiful daughter, Miss Rhoda.  Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Quilliam, were held at the Baptist church last Friday afternoon, and he was buried with G. A. R. honors.
