J. W. McDaniels.

 

  Mention was made last week of the death of J. W. McDaniels, which occurred at Norman, Oklahoma.

  He was born on the 5th day of March 1832, and died Sunday March 7, 1915, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Weeden, at Norman, Oklahoma.  His sons, John and L. P. McDaniels brought the remains to Howard Wednesday morning and they were laid to rest in Grace Lawn cemetery.

  He was born in Virginia moved to North Carolina before the war.  He served three years in the Confederate army, and in 1868 moved to Johnson county, Kansas, and in 1877 to Elk county, where he resided until about five years ago when he went to Oklahoma to live with his children.

  He was quite wealthy before the war and was a shrewd, energetic business man before he was stricken with age.  He was twice married, his second wife was Mrs. Roberts, with whom he lived many years and preceded him to the Distant Home some six years ago.

  Three children, Mrs. Mary Weeden of Norman, Oklahoma, John McDaniels, of Cushing, Oklahoma, and L. P. McDaniels, of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, together with 27 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several step children survive him.
