 J. A. M’ELHANY died suddenly from heart disease at his home , 527 North Emporia Avenue, at 11:30 o’clock Saturday night.  He was 72 years old and a Civil War veteran, having served as first lieutenant in the Sixteenth Iowa.  He had been a Wichita resident for 20 years.  Two daughters survive---Mrs. Hal McCoy, of this city, and Mrs. W. Pierce, of Enid, Ok.  Mrs. Pierce came to Wichita last night.  The funeral will be held at the Gill Chapel Tuesday at 2:30 o’clock.  Burial  in Highland Cemetery.  Dr. J. R. McFadden will be in charge of the funeral, and Eggleston Post, G. A. R. will be in charge of the burial service.
