OBITUARY.

 

  G. H. List, formerly a resident of Allen county, near Leanna, for 26 years, died Wednesday, June 9th, at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 9 days at Arma, Kansas, where he had lived for the past 17 years.

  Mr. List was born October 10th, 1834, in Switzerland County, Ind.  April 17th, 1861, he enlisted in the Union army, Co. A, 20th Ill. Inf.  He served in the army four years, five months and was honorably discharged August 25th 1865, at Chicago, Ill.

  January 27th, 1867, he was married to Mary Catherine Tudor of Indiana.  In June 1876, they came to Kansas and settled in the vicinity of Humboldt living there till 1902 when they moved to Arma, Kansas, where they remained until a month ago, when his wife was laid to rest.  After coming to Kansas Mr. List joined the Christian church wehre he was a member at the time of his death.  He was also a member of the G. A. R. of Girard, Kansas.

  Mr. List is survived by five children:  Mrs. Dora Barlow of Arma, Kans.; Mrs. Lizzie Cation of Leanna; Mrs. Rachel Lassman of Humboldt; Mrs. Anna Parker of Chanute, and John List of Galesburg.  Fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren and a host of friends also mourn his loss.
