Reason Lucas.

  Reason Lucas died suddenly last Saturday afternoon from a stroke of paralysis, which he sustained only a short time before his death.  Mr. Lucas was one of the pioneer settlers of Woodson county and was well known in this and adjoining counties.

  Mr. Lucas was born in Veramillion county March 27, 1841 and at the time of his death was nearing his 62nd birthday.  Dec. 1st 1840 (error by newspaper), he was married to Emily Bell McDougal, to which union 12 children were born, 10 of whom are still living.  Nearly three years of Comrade Lucas’ life was spent in service in the Civil War, he being honorably discharged June 8, 1865.

  Funeral services were held at the Lucas home, conducted by Rev. Poole.  Services at the grave were in charge of the Grand Army of the Republic, of which the deceased was a member.
