Little River Monitor, Thursday, November 4, 1886

 

  Died at his home near Little River Wednesday October 27, S. D. Joy.  The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church on Friday at 11 o’clock,  Rev. Fuller preaching the sermon, after which the interment took place at the Bean cemetery.  He leaves a wife and a number of children, most of whom are grown.

 ANOTHER COMPANY.

 A military company was organized in the early summer, in Jefferson township, and soon number over fifty men; most of whom were ready for active service, S. D. Joy, who was an orderly sergeant in the Mexican war, was elected captain, Joseph Rouse first lieutenant, and George Frink second lieutenant.
