Death of Stephen E. Bellar.
At 10 o’clock Monday morning, Mr. Stephen E. Bellar, after working some time in his garden, nailed a bottom in his favorite chair in the shade in the front yard, sat down in it and died. Death was pronounced due to heart disease. The funeral service was held Thursday at 2:00 o’clock, at the home and burial made in the Olathe cemetery. He was born in Shoharie, New York on January, 1839. He served in the war as a corporal in the 134th New York Volunteer infantry, and was one of the four or five Johnson county survivors. He came to Olathe in ’66 and has lived here ever since as one of our very best citizens where he was known and well liked by everyone. He is survived by his widow, son Oscar, daughter, Mrs. Frank Rebsamen of Paola and a step daughter, Mrs. Katherin Suits of Kansas City.
