Thomas Williams

Thomas Williams was born near Manchester, England, in 1842, of thrifty and well-to-do parentage. He came to America while yet a young man. In August, 1861, he enlisted for service in the Civil War. He was discharged on August 12, 1864, having served in Company “G”, 39th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He has been a member of the Lyndon Post, G. A. R., since June 7, 1886.

Mr. Williams came to Kansas in the spring of 1870, and located on a homestead near Lyndon. He has lived on his farm, and in Lyndon ever since coming to Kansas. He died at Lyndon, on Wednesday, December 16, 1914, being 73 years of age.

By his death, we lose a good citizen, and a friend to those in need, but his quiet life led few to know of his charitable disposition. By hard work and a saving disposition, and good judgment he was successful in accumulating a comfortable fortune. At the time of his death he was President of the First National Bank of Lyndon. Mr. Williams was never married and his nearest heirs are his sisters and the heirs of his only brother, all of whom reside in England.
