In the Legislature.
William Miller, an old soldier and a resident of Neosho county since 1866, died at his home, 506 West First street, yesterday afternoon. The funeral services will be held from the home tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. Charles A. Wilson, pastor of the Presbyterian church. The Chanute post of the Grand Army of the Republic will have charge. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
Mr. Miller was 81 years and 8 months old. He was a native of Germany but emigrated to the United States in young manhood. He settled on a farm in Big Creek but moved to Chanute nearly twenty years ago. He represented Neosho county in the state legislature for a while. He was a member of Company C, Seventy-ninth Illinois volunteers.
For several years Mr. Miller’s health has been failing. His wife died May 11 of this year and at the time it was thought he could live but a short time.
The immediate relatives surviving are three children, Mrs. N. Dannefer and W. L. Miller of this city, and Mrs. J. E. Ryan of Pratt county, Kansas.
