Iola, Kan., Dec. 13.—Captain William H. McClure,
seventy-six, former mayor of Iola and Civil war veteran died at his home here
early today. He served with the seventy-first Ohio Volunteers throughout
the war and was promoted to command a company on the battle field of Overton’s
Field during General Thomas’ last charge against Hood, which concluded the
battle of Nashville.
