   William Wilson was born in Clermont County, Ohio, June 18, 1830 and after a long illness, departed this life May 10, 1908 aged 77 years 10 months and 10 days.  At the age of twenty-four he was married to Elizabeth Nichols, and in 1866 she died leaving him with four small children, three of whom are living, one son in Missouri, one in Alaska and a daughter in San Francisco.

  April 1, 1868, he was married to Mrs. Sarah Rutherford to this union were born eight children seven of whom remain, with the mother to mourn the loss of a kind father, namely Mrs. J. W. Marsh, of Wisconsin; Mrs. Jennie Brentnall of Colorado, Earl Wilson and Mrs. Pearl Kincaid, of Texas; Otis Wilson of Chicago; Frank Wilson of Topeka and Geo. Wilson of Oklahoma.

  In 1881 they moved to Kansas, settling on the farm he occupied until in October 1906 when his advanced age and failing health caused them to come to Lyndon, where they have since lived.  Mr. Wilson was a man whose friends were counted by the number of those who had met him.  One of his strongest traits was generosity, he was always among the first to give helping hand to those in need, and a most cordial welcome to every one who came to his home.

  Wm. Wilson heard the call of his country, in her great need and enlisted in Company G. 23rd Kentucky Infantry and later reenlisted in Company D. 7th Ohio Cavalry and finally honorably discharged May 31, 1865.

  The funeral services were held from the M. E. church at 10 a. m. yesterday by Rev. J. J. Skinner.  Interment was made in the Lyndon cemetery.  The Lyndon G. A. R. Post of which he was a member conducted a short burial service at the grave.

  Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilson, Mrs. Roberts, Joe Morrison, S. B. Brentnall and daughter Mariam of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Kincaid and Earl Wilson of Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Swayne Wilson of Osage City; Mrs. G. B. Brentnall of Colorado and Mrs. Cain from Lawrence.  Charles Wilson, a son, from Missouri arrived here too late for the funeral.
