Daniel SILER  Blocker Cemetery,  Washington County, Morrowville , KansasThe headstone is a white sandstone obelisk, it is engraved with Daniel SILER SEPT 29, 1890 AGED 71 YR 4 M 27 DY.Lying flat on the ground next to the obelisk is a bronze  plaque in a concrete base, with the following inscription ,Daniel SILER PVT CO "D" 30 RGT ILL VOLS CIVIL WAR. Born MAY 2, 1819 Died SEPT 29, 1890. Between these two markers is a bronz GAR medallion on a 6" stake. Daniel SILERs  son, Phillip, fought side by side with his father, in the same unit.Phillip is buried beside his wife Anna in the Miller West cemetary,Duenaweg, Mo. His passing occurred 16 May 1912, Janice Baity Patterson, g- g-g- grand  and g-g-g-g-granddaugther of Daniel and Phillip .I will be happy to share the  family information.  Donald Patterson II
Samuel Corydon RUST   BIRTH: 6 May 1837, Coolspring, PA DEATH: 30 Jun 1916, Washington, KS He was the son of John and Ann Rust. He served as a private in Company K of the 63rd Pennsylvania Volunteers during the Civil War. He enlisted August 10, 1861 and was discharged on disability from Ft. Monroe, VA on March 17, 1863. He contracted typhoid fever and had been hospitalized six months before his discharge. After the War, they took up homesteading in
Kansas. He & his wife, the former Eliza Nims, moved from Pennsylvania to Kansas in November 1871. John Myers

James Turner Swinney, Buried Koger Cemetery in Wilson Co. born Mercer Co. Va. (now W. Va.) 24 Aug. 1832. Married Clara C. Peters 25 Dec. 1851. Enlisted in Cap't. White G. Ryan's Co. "I", 60th Reg't. of Virginia Infantry, C.S.A.  Later promoted to Sg't. and also served as  a Capt & Major in the 34th Battalion of Virginia Cavalry and was paroled at Charleston, W.Va. by the Union Army in June 1865.  So he served both in this outfit and in the 60th Va. Infantry. He was discharged on surgeons certificate on March 1, 1862. Migrated to Wilson Co. Kans 1870-75 and was a farmer around Lafountain, Ks. in Wilson Co.  Died 13 JUne 1910 Bill Bentley,

STACY PENN, born in Clermont Co. OH, 23 November 1823. Came to KS from Pike Co. IL where he had married Mary Middleton, via Pettis Co. MO and settled first in Iola, Allen Co. KS. He enlisted 16 Jan 1862 in Captain Fletcher's Company "E" 9th Regiment Kansas Volunteer Cavalry. Was wounded in, "The Affair at Locust Grove," (present-day Mayes Co. OK) Cherokee Nation, on 3 July 1862, whilst in a cavalry charge against Confederate Indian Troops, when his horse was wounded and fell on him. He was never able to ride a
horse again, but remained in the 9th alternately as a nurse and cook until Honorably Discharged 29 January 1865 at Du Vall's Bluff, Arkansas. He removed with his family to Neodesha, Wilson KS from Iola. He and wife Mary Middleton-Penn divorced 19 June 1871 and he married a widow of London, Englander, Osmund Highley named Harriet Hazelwood Highley and cared for her and her three children; George, Alva and Martha. His son Joel and all his descendants remain in Neodesha until even today. He belonged to the Humphrey G.A.R. Post (Neodesha?) until his death on 6 March 1894. He is buried in Shelly Cemetery in Neodesha, Wilson Co. KS and has a US Veterans Administration Military Marker on his gravesite obtained by this, his great grandson, John H. Penn, M.S.W.. Penn family history detailsMatthew Washington CRAIG  b February 02, 1836 Illinois came to Wilson county Ks 1857.  Served with C, 16 Kansas Militia,  found on list of Wilson County Civil War Veteran List.  He died 1885, Coyville KS. WILEY BRITTON, Mount Hope Cemetary, Kansas City, Kansas. born 1842, was an officer in the Kansas Cavalry. He died on 14 Sep 1930 at the Old Soldiers Home in Leavenworth, Kansas.
BUTTERWICK, Henry; buried in Quindaro Cemetery, Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas.  He was born Braunsen, Waldeck, Germany , October 8, 1834; came to the United States in 1857.   Served in Company C, 40th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment from September 1, 1861 to October 8, 1864. Settled in Kansas about 1869 and died in Welborn, Wyandotte County, Kansas, on 2 July 1903. Submitted by:  Dick Burkard
