ABBOTT MILES MORTON, born Feb. 25, 1906 in Decatur Co., KS., the son of Ruth and Daniel W. Morton.  He died at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, MO.  Abbott and Margaret were married Nov. 8, 1930 and for 41 years they lived on the Morton Homestead in Bassettville Township.  They sold their farm in 1971 and moved to Oberlin where Abbott was self employed at the Decatur Animal Hospital.  He was active in many community services, President and member of the Decatur County Fair Board Assn., a member of the United ME Church where he served on many church boards; a member of the Woodsman Lodge, Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.  He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Decatur National Bank.  Survivors are his widow; five children; 11 grandchildren; 3 sons-in-law, 2 daughters-in-law; two brothers Emmett of Goodland and Victor of Oberlin.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.  Funeral services were conducted from the Oberlin ME Church April 13 with the Rev. Thomas Smith officiating.  Interment Oberlin Cemetery
