C. E. TOWNSEND DEAD
     A telegram to his wife received here Tuesday morning stated that
Charley Townsend had died at the home of his sister, Mrs. T. B. Bark in
Sutherland, Iowa at 6 o'clock Tuesday morning [November 10, 1914].  Mr.
Townsend had been in a serious condition since early last winter and had
been to various sanitariums in the hope of finding relief but his case
was beyond medical skill and of late he had been at the home of his
sister in Sutherland, Iowa where he died.  His second son Earl, being the
only one of the immediate family with him at the time of his death.
     The body was brought to Lebanon, arriving Wednesday, funeral
services were held at the farm home on the Sappa Creek [Decatur Co.], at
10:30 Thursday morning and interment made in the White Cemetery.
     Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Bark of Sutherland, Iowa and Earl Townsend
accompanied the remains to Lebanon.
     [Charles was born July 17, 1867 in Greenfield, Dade Co., MO., to
Augustus C. and Catherine Hoffman Townsend.]

Note:  Charles' wife, Ilona Milborn Townsend, died June 29, 1929 and was
also buried at the White Cemetery.  Their son, Densel Townsend, had their
graves moved to Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, NE in 1941 per his mother's
wishes prior to her death.
