Densel Townsend

Densel Townsend, known to his friends as "Sox", was born on a farm
south of Lebanon, Neb, Jan. 28, 1907.  He died July 30, 1981, in Oberlin
at the age of 74.
    
He was the eighth child of Charlie and Lona (Johnson) Townsend.  He
attended Star school and spent his entire life in Decatur County except
for the past five winters in Arizona.
    
On July 15, 1925, he was united in marriage to Neva Crook in Norton,
Kan.  They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1975.
    
Survivors include his wife, Neva, of the home; a son, Gary and his
wife, Lucille Townsend, Danbury, Neb; a daughter, Betty and her husband,
Gerald Archer, Fremont, Neb; a brother, Dale, Sr. and his wife, Alma,
Almena; two sisters, Mildred Egelston, Volcano, Calif; and Rena Fuller,
Sidney, Neb;  four grandchildren, Kevin and his wife, Janet Archer,
Omaha, Neb, and Trent, Brent, and Krent Townsend, Danbury, Neb, and other
relatives.
    
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Mirl and Earl;
four sisters, Effie, Henrietta, Viva and Winifred.
    
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 1 from Corcoran-Bateman
Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Clare officiating.  Burial was in Oberlin
Cemetery with Corcoran-Bateman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    
A memorial was established to the Golden Age Center.
