CITIZEN
Life at best is but a short span from the dimpled cheeks of childhood to
the wrinkled brow of old age. Yet time is not always measured by
figures on a dial. 'He lives the most who thinks the most, acts the
noblest, does the best.' Fortunately for this kind lady her life span was
not only longer in years than the average but in usefulness as well for
many whom she befriended together with her relatives will long hold her
name in fond memory.
Obituary
Eliza Jane Jackson was born in the state of New York, November 1,
1838. She was married to Silas O. Munger, Nov. 7, 1858, in
Wisconsin. To this union were born three children; two daughters and
one son. Mr. Munger preceded her to the Great Beyond and on October
5, 1916 she was married to Wm. McDowell in Oberlin, she also survived Mr.
McDowell several years.
She united with the Baptist church when just a small girl and was a
faithful Christian all her long and useful life. After lingering
illness of several weeks she passed away December 22, 1929, at the ripe
age of 91 years, 1 month and 21 days. She is survived by one son,
Leroy S. Munger, Washington state, and six grandchildren, namely: Ray
Munger of Oberlin, Mrs. Bertha Ceverly of Oberlin, Florence McKee ,
Colorado, Gladys Andrea, St. Louis, Mo., Gloria Monnett, Washington state,
and Mary McCalla.
The funeral was conducted in the Federated church by the pastor who spoke
from the text Psalms 1-16:15, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is
the death of his Saints".
Interment was in the Oberlin Cemetery."
