Elizabeth Hudson Chilson

"Elizabeth Hudson, daughter of John and Bessie Hudson, was born October 4, 1855 in the state of New York.  At the age of 9 years she moved with her parents to Marshalltown, Iowa.
She was married to James Madison Chilson September 1, 1873, and to this union were born seven children, one dying in infancy.
In the year 1885, she came with her family to Decatur County, Kansas,  settling on a farm 9 miles west of Oberlin. Here they made their home until 1907, when they moved to Oberlin, and there she lived until her death.
Because of failing health, she lived the last year and a half of her life with her grandaughter, Mrs. Charley Zimmerman, where she passed away April 1, 1937, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 28 days.  Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1914.
She was baptized into the Christian church, but later in life became a member of the Baptist church to which she was faithful although failing health prevented her from attending services the last years of her life.
She leaves to mourn the loss of a faithful and loving mother, four sons and two daughters: Elbert, Roy and Ross, all of Oberlin, Earl of McPherson, Mrs. Addie Chapin, Oberlin, and Mrs. Bessie Magner of New Folden, Minn.
All were present at her bedside when life's tide ebbed out, with the exception of Mrs. Magner, who arrived in time for the funeral.
Besides sons and daughters she leaves one brother, George Hudson, Healsburg,[ Healdsburg] Calif., one stepson Clyde Chilson of Chicago,Ill., 44 great grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.
