HENRY RAY ASKINS

RAY ASKINS was born March 5, 1885, the son of John Y and Martha Ann (Morton) Askins at Union, Neb.  He died May 12, 1967, at the Rawlins County Hospital at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 7 days.

He moved from the farm with his parents to Herndon, later he went to Wyoming where he managed a ranch.  He later returned to Herndon and was married to Marie Hauptman Stevenson on August 6, 1919.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, two sisters, Mrs. Florence Chilson and Mrs. Ruth Pettis and one brother Roy Askins.

Survivors are sisters, Mrs. Mamie Gillette of Engleside, Calif; Ina Chapin of Huntington, Ind. and Mertie Askins and Clara Roberts, both of Lincoln, Neb.
Funeral services were conducted from the Leinwetter Funeral Home, Atwood, May 15. Burial in the Herndon Cemetery.
