 DEATHS

Mrs. Joyce de la Gardie died at her home at 215 South Lincoln Avenue in Beloit, Kansas, at 9:50 o’clock Tuesday evening, November 9, 1954. She died suddenly from a stroke.

  Vivian Lucille McClaury was born in Oberlin, Kansas, May 25, 1902, being a daughter of Walter Harmon and Earl Ethelyn Bell McClaury, and was aged at the of her death just 52 years, 3 months and 14 days. She was married in Denver, Colorado, April 25, 1923 to Joyce de la Gardie. They lived in Chicago, Memphis and Bermingham(sic) but have been living in Beloit for number of years. Mrs. de la Gardie worked in  several Beloit cafes as well as at the Beloit County Club and has made many friends in this locality. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist church in Denver.

  Surviving relatives includethe deceased’s husband; her father, Walter Harmon McClaury, Oberlin; three sisters, Mrs. C.M. Young of Beloit, Mrs. Myra Burnette of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Lorna Jones of Yakima, Wash.; one brother, Kenneth McClaury of  Salinas, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

  Funeral services were conducted at the Vail McDonald Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. V.W. Whitmore in charge. Mrs. V.W. Whitmore, with Mrs. Maurice McDonald as organist sang “Life’s Railway to Heaven” and “Whispering  Hope.” Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery in Denver.

Out-of-town relatives attending the services were Mrs. Ingar Stamey of Denver, Colo.; Dr. William Stamey of Manhatten; Mrs. Bertha Pratt of Kensington; and Mr. and Mrs. W.H. McClaury of Oberlin.
