MARGARET L. MORTON

MARGARET L. MORTON, daughter of Arthur and
Nellie (Beckwith) Kline, was born in Norton County, Kan. Sept. 4, 1911. She
died on June 30, 1981, at the Long Term Care Unit at the Decatur County
Hospital at the age of 69.
She grew up in Norton County graduating from Almena High School in 1929.
On November 6, 1930, she was married to Abbott
Miles Morton in Phillips County, Kan. Following their marriage, they
farmed in Bassettville Township until 1972 when they retired and moved to
Oberlin. He died in 1974 and she entered the Good Samaritan Center in
1976 where she had lived until the past eight months when she entered Long
Term Care Unit at the Decatur County Hospital.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Oberlin OES #106 and was an
active 4-H leader for 35 years.
Surviving are two sons, Rex and wife Billie, Topeka, and Arnold and wife
Jackie, Winston, ORE; three daughters, Mary and her husband, John Futral,
Savannah, GA., Margaret and husband Phil Erickson, Oberlin, and Avis
Wheelock, Kansas City, MO; one sister, Dorothy Barngrover, Norton; two
brothers, Leo Kline, Norton, and Elza Kline Fairfield, Calif; 11
grandchildren and one great grandchild and other relatives.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Abbott, two brothers and one
sister.
Funeral services were held July 3 from the
Oberlin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dale Clare officiating. Burial
was in Oberlin Cemetery under the direction of Corcoran-Bateman Funeral
Home.
Memorials were established to Oberlin United
Methodist Chruch and the Decatur County Long Term Care Unit.
