She was preceded in death by her parents Jacob Hamilton Spall and Anna Johnson Spall; husband Elias Wesley (Wes) Canaga; grandaughter Victoria Ann (Vicky) Bogner; great-grandson Gerald Christopher Bogner and stepson Homer Barrix. Born July 8, 1906 in Dresden, Kansas, Pearl lived a full and adventurous life. She loved the outdoors, animals, fishing, roses, gardening and God. She enjoyed collecting dolls, antiques, painting landscapes, writing poetry and dancing. She never met a stranger, only friends. She became the mother to many whose own mother could not be there for them.

The past year Pearl spent her time at the nursing home enjoying the company of healthcare workers including her hospice nurse and chaplain. She could be heard singing old beloved hymns endlessly. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

A private memorial service was held at home in Decatur on Aug. 27 led by Mr. Baxter Cagle and Rev. Otto Hammonds. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O.B. 2745, Decatur, AL 35602.

The family wishes to thank everyone for the prayers and wishes expressed on behalf of our loved one. A special thanks to Hospice of the Valley and NHC Health Care Center.
