Nellie E. Halsey Townsend, daughter of William Halsey and Alice Springer
Halsey, was born April 23, 1896 in Red Willow Co., near Lebanon, Nebr.
and passed away at Kearney, Nebr. on March 5, 1961 at the age of 64
years, 10 months and 10 days.

On August 20, 1916, she was united in marriage with Earl A. Townsend at
McCook, Nebraska.  To this union, four children were born.

She lived her entire adult life in Decatur County, Kansas.  She was a
member and past president of the P.N.G. Club of Lebanon, of the Rebekah
Lodge, No. 210, of Lebanon and a charter member of the Liberty Star Club.
 She was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Ettie, Myrtle, Lizzie, Jennie
and 1 brother, John.

Survivors are her husband, Earl A. Townsend, four children, Mrs. Aneta
Hageman of Fort Collins, Colo, Mrs. Alda Rick, Vassar, Mighigan, Charley,
Fort Collins, Colo., and Tom, Lebanon; also, six grandchildren, three
sisters, Edna Lehn, Twin Falls, Idaho, Martha Morris and Abbie Huff,
McCook, two brothers, Edgar Halsey, Lebanon, Charles Halsey, Phoenix,
Ariz., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held March 8, 1961 at 2:00 P.M. in the Lebanon
Presbyterian church with Rev. Warner Taylor officiating.  The Rebekah
Lodge attended in a body.  Pianist Frances Warner, singer Ruth Anthony,
Delpha Blees sand "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Old Rugged Cross".  Casket
Bearers Joe Poole, James Powell, Allen Chambers, Francis Petersen, Lester
Chambers, Wendell Frickey.  Interment in the Lebanon cemetery with the
Rebekah Lodge No. 210 of Lebanon performing the last sad rites.
