ROY ASKINS was born in Decatur County August 11, 1890, and died at the home of his parents three miles northeast of Achilles Monday, December 16, 1907, aged 17 years, 8 months and 4 days.  On December 2 Roy was stricken with paralysis and his life hung by a slender thread until the end came last Monday. Funeral services were held at the home at 1 o'clock Tuesday, after which the remains, followed by a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives, were laid to rest in the Bassettville cemetery ----Herndon Nonpareil.
