Thomas Bark Townsend

Thomas B. Townsend, 57, died Saturday [August 27, 1977] at the Veterans
Hospital in Grand Island, Nb.  He was born Oct. 22, 1919 in Decatur
County, Kan, the son of the late Earl and Nellie Townsend.  He grew up
there and graduated from Star School and Decatur County High School in
1937.  He was married to Darlene Warner Feb. 7, 1942 in Oberlin, Kan.
    
Mr. Townsend served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 after which
he returned to the Lebanon community where he lived until his death.  He
was a member of Jack Helt American Legion Post 313 of Lebanon and Boaz
Masonic Lodge No. 185 of Danbury, Kan.
    
Survivors are his widow, Darlene; one son, Steven of Danbury; two
daughters, Mrs Gary (Mary Jean) Peter of Selden, Kan. and Mrs. Dale
(Kathy) Eddy of Salina, Kan; four grandchildren; one brother, Charley of
Ft. Collins, Colo, and two sisters, Mrs. Anita Hageman of Ft. Collins,
Colo. and Mrs. Alda Rick of Vassar, Mi.
    
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Lebanon Presbyterian
Church.  The Rev. James Glover will officiate, Masonic and military
interment will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.  The Herrmann Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements.  Friends may call at the Herrmann Funeral
Chapel in Danbury.  Memorials are being accepted in his name and may be
left at the chapel.
