VICTOR J. MORTON

VICTOR J. MORTON, son of Daniel Webster and Ruth (Green) Morton, was born Nov. 27, 1897, in Bassettville Township, Decatur County, Kan.  He died May 5, 1982, at Lantern Park Manor, Colby, Kan. at the age of 84.

He grew to manhood in Bassettville Township and attended school there.  On Nov. 9, 1919, he married Marguerite J. Mines at Oberlin.  They made their home on a farm near Selden until the 1950s when they moved to Oberlin where he was at one time the Probate Judge and Sheriff.

Survivors include a grandson, Daniel Morton and his wife Debbie of Dresden; a great grandson, Lucas Morton, Dresden; a sister-in-law, Nola Morton of Oberlin and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son Howard; six brothers, Luther, Emmett, Clarence, Homer, Lester and Abbott and four sisters, Alice, Edna, Cora and Anne.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 7 at 10:30 a.m. from Corcoran-Bateman Funeral Home, Oberlin, with the REv. Ken Kaufmann officiating. Burial was in the Oberlin Cemetery.
A Memorial was established.
