Ellis County, Kansas from S. C. Griggs & Co. Sectional Map of Kansas dated 1870

Fort Hays appears in the South East corner of the county.  That was the location of Fort Fletcher which was later named Fort Hays and was moved to Hays City in 1867.  This 1870 was in error about the location of Fort Hays.
