SHIRLEY

Cheryl Walker Sun, January 31, 1999
Hezekiah SHIRLEY, originally from Monroe County, Kentucky, worked for the railroad and was killed near Dodge City, Kansas approximately 1880 to 1885.  He supposedly worked as a surveyor, left a widow and two infant children in Kentucky.  Looking for his burial location or circumstances of his death.  His widow asked her daughter to continue to search for him, then she asked her daughter, my grandmother, who is now asking me to continue the search.   If newspaper or railroad archives still exist in Ford County from that period, please let me know. Thanks,

Lynn Earnest White Wed, March 10, 1999
My grand parents and great-grandparents lived in Ford Co. from the late 1870's. Their names were Charles Carl MOLITOR and Lenora Alice BAIER. His parents Joseph MOLITOR and his wife Franziska SAUER MOLITOR were early settlers from Germany. My uncle still lives on the original farm. I'll be anxious to search later additions to the 1885 census. Thank you for all the hard work!!! I was interested, though, in the location of the State Soldier's Home, because I found the name of another great-grandfather Jacob EARNEST listed as a 1920 resident. I was not aware that he had been a soldier and wondered if this is a relative. I know he died in Salina KS in 1922.

They were in Schuyler Co in 1860 and I believe in 1870. I have been unable to come up with what happened and how she came to be buried in Kansas.
