History of Bluff

The following history was taken from "The Harper County Story" by Gwendoline & Paul Sanders Copyright 1968, Library of Congress call number 68-54660, The Mennonite Press, Newton, KS

Bluff

We can not be absolutely sure of the location of the Bluff post office. The postal department records its establishment as being February 1, 1887 with Robert Echols as the first post master. Bluff was closed January 28, to reopen as Bluff City post office. Whether the location of "Bluff" and "Bluff City" is the same, we can not be sure, but we assume that Bluff was near the present Bluff City.
