History of Swan

The following history was taken from "The Harper County Story" by Gwendoline & Paul Sanders Copyright 1968, Library of Congress call number 68-54660, The Mennonite Press, Newton, KS

Swan

Mr. T. D. Hunt of Rural Attica states that many years ago a post office and saloon were located approximately nine and one-half miles west of Anthony. Mr. Hunt could not recall the name of the station. This could have been Swan but there is no official record.

The Swan post office opened December 5, 1879 with Daniel V. Hamilton as postmaster. The office closed February 27, 1880.
