Saylor, Jacob - (Burrton).  Jacob Saylor enlisted November 1861, as private, in Co. H. 3rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry; served three years and nine months, was present at the battles of Shiloh, Corinth, Vicksburg, Missionary Ridge, Resacs, Dalton, Dallas, Kenesaw Mountain, Atlanta, Jonesboro and all the battles of Sherman's grand march through Georgia.  Was wounded at Atlanta and Dallas.  (Our Old Soldiers, written by A. Perry, G.A.R., published in the Burrton Monitor, Friday February 3, 1882.  Page 2).  Jacob was born December 20, 1845 and died October 17, 1936, buried in Burrton Cemetery block 1 lot 82, grave 1.  He was married to Ella M. Woodward.

Scott, Viola (Vaughan).  (Obituary):  Scott, Viola "Vi," 79, died Saturday, June 17, 2000. Private family services. Mrs. Scott was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Caldwell, Kan., daughter of William and Edna Vaughan. On July 25, 1937, she married Lester David Snyder. Following their divorce she married Gilbert Scott on Nov. 2, 1966. She had worked for Boeing Wichita, The International Association of Machinists, Beech Aircraft Corp., and in recent years for The State Bank of Burrton.  Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by one brother, William.  Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Rosetta and Judd Durner of Burrton, Karen and John McCoskey of Sedgwick; brothers, Robert Vaughan of Springdale, Ark., Norman Vaughan of Morrison, Colo.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Memorial has been established with Vi Scott Memorial Fund in care of The State Bank of Burrton. Hillside Funeral Home East, Wichita. (The Wichita Eagle, Wichita, Kansas.  June 19, 2000).

Sigerson, William. - (Burrton).  William Sigerson enlisted September 1st 1863 as a private in Company E, 1st Arkansas Infantry, afterwards in the U.S.A. as Hospital Steward.  (Our Old Soldiers, written by A. Perry, G.A.R., published in the Burrton Monitor, Friday September 22, 1882.  Page 2).  William M. Sigerson was born September 15, 1819 and died June 1, 1902, at the age of 82 years, 8 months, 15 days.  He was married to Susan Stanton, born 1824 and died 1878.  William & Susan are buried in the Burrton Cemetery, Burrton, Kansas, Block 3, Lot 91, Graves 7 & 8.

Stone, Joseph S. - (Burrton).  Joseph S. Stone enlisted August 9th, 1862 as Musician in Company F, 4th Iowa, and served three years.  (Our Old Soldiers, written by A. Perry, G.A.R., published in the Burrton Monitor, Friday September 22, 1882.  Page 2).  Joseph S. Stone was born in 1844 and died in 1927.  He was married to Anna M. Stone (1844-1918).  Joseph & Anna are buried in the Burrton Cemetery, Burrton, Kansas, Block 3 Lot 33, Graves 5 & 6.  Next to them is buried Harold Guy Stone, who died August 9, 1886 at the age of 1 year, 2 months, 5 days, Helen Stone, born Jan. 4 and died Jan. 23, 1917, and Herbert M. Stone, born 1875 and died 1917. 

Swift, Mary M.  (Query):  Born Ollie Mae Murphy (Ollyanne, Orleanna).  Married Samuel J. Swift (b 1871 MO, d 1913 OK) on 20 Mar 1890 in Henry Co, MO.  Settled in Woodward Oklahoma and raised 8 children.  After Samuel died, Mary was living in Newton in 1930, keeping house for Edward Andres.  Samuel & Mary had 2 sons who married in Harvey County - William P. Swift (who married Orpha Penner) and George J. Swift (who married Sidonia Penner).  Posted by Myron Murphy 7/28/06.  myrinmuph  (at) aol.com.
