ARMSTRONG

I am looking information on my Uncle who passed away in Parsons KS on Jan 31, 1921. It is not known if he lived there for any length of time. His name is  Leo Armstrong (first name may have been Francis) b. April 1897 in Chillicothe Mo, d. Jan 31, 1921 in Parson KS. Buried in Chillicothe MO. I believe there was a TB hospital in Parsons where he may been receiving treatment. Also there may have been some relatives there that he was staying with. Their last name would have been Conway or McCarthy.

I have been searching for death records and a cemetery where these people are buried. It is told to me that my Great-Great Grandparents died  and are buried in Oswego, Labette Co, KS. Their names are as follows  Dugald Alexander McKellar, born 1802 Forblarn, Parrish of Glossary, Argyll Scotland  died  Jan 20,1879 in Oswego Labette County KS. His wife Mary Brodie b. 1807 in Argyllshire Scotland, they were married in Canada in1829. I am also looking to find out where their oldest daughter is buried. Her name was also Mary McKellar born in Canada 1829 and died in the US possibly around Sedalia MO. between 1852 and 1857, she was married to Thomas Wall in St Josephs MO around 1852.

Looking  for  birth & marriage info on Charles Murray Ellison and wife Alice. Also Alice's parents &  birth (abt 1883) in Ill. Charles was born in Dover , Vernon Co MO about 1879. He and Alice lived in Labette Co KS during 1920 Census.

I am looking for information on the Shaw Family. Napoleon Shaw b. 1850, listed in the 1880 US Census of Labette Co KS.  Napoleon's parents, Cornelius b. 1820 and Rachel b. 1825,  I have no proof that they came to KS.  Napoleon's sister, Rebecca J Shaw Green Wadsack b. 1856, her daughter Minnie P. Green b. 1878, and her child Richard Wadsack b.1884 in KS.  Napoleon's brother, Warren Shaw b. 1859, who married Mary E. Flager b.1862.  The Stover/ Flager family was from Labette Co, KS.   Other Siblings of Napoleon's : Emily b. 1840  married James Litchfield, Clarissa b. 1853, Henry b. 1855 married Sarah Geaugh, Harrietb. 1859, Eliza b. 1861 married Martin Maggart, Alice b. 1867, Catherine b. 1870.  The Shaw family migration was 1820-60 Coshocton Co OH; 1861-1865 Clinton Co IN; 1870 Delaware Co OH; 1880 Noble Co IN. Rebecca, Henry and Warren ended up in Clayton Co IA. Eliza passed away in 1898 (presumably in Noble Co IN). Cornelius and Rachel disappear after 1880 in Noble Co IN as does Alice and Catherine. Clarissa and Harriet must have married before 1880 and I can not find them.  Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

I am searching for Isaac Lowderback and step son Oren Wharton that were in the 1880 Labette Co KS Census. Oren Wharton was born in 1869 in KS.


 

CROW....PALMER

I am looking for the John & Lula (Palmer) Crow family of Parsons KS. John W. Crow was born in Edgar Co IL in July 1866. Sometime between than and 1870 he moved with his parents to Benton Township in Polk Co MO. In 1880 he was 14 and living with his father in his sister's Sarah Burnes household, still in Benton. His mother had died the year before. In 1880 Lula Palmer was living in Dorchester Macoupin ILL. By 1895 they were married and living in Labette Township KS with  Lula's brothers George and Nathan. The 1900 census says they had been married about 9 years so about 1891.They  had two daughters: Mona 1894 , Edna Pearl 1896 and a son Floyd 1898. Nathan Palmer either moved out or died between 1910 &1920. John was listed as a farmer and then in 1920 a janitor for the post office, I assume in Parsons KS. They were still in Parsons KS circa 1931 according to his sisters obit but Lula died in CA in 1952. In 1930 their son Floyd and his wife Almeda? was living next door with their three daughters.

I am looking for information regarding my g-g-father Ervin Mabee. I have anecdotal information that he was born in KS, but the only possible connection I could find was information that Ervin's uncle (Simon) lived in Chetopa.


 

MILLER

I am looking for any information on the Miller family in Labette Co, KS and the surrounding Areas. Looking for Albert Pearl Miller, Edna Bigham Miller, and any of  their children: Frances, Alma, Albert Junior, Arthur, Etta Faye. They lived on the old Montana Road by the railroad tracks at one time. They attended Altamont, Montana and Oswego schools.

Looking for the parents of John Walter Ray Cook, b. 1854, MO or LA. Parents b. in France and Mercy Annie Norris, b. 1857, Pierceton Kosciusko, IN. to John and Mary Ann (Barnes) Norris. John and Mercy were m. 8 July 1876, Oswego KS Labette County. I have quite a bit on the Norris line, but have hit a brick wall on the Cooks.

Hattie Reed is listed i8n the "History of Labette County and its Representative Citizen" as a prominent land owner and resident of Parsons. I would like any information, like obit or contact any of her descendants.

VAN DePLANK

I am looking for an ancestor of mine (great-grandfather) by the name of Dr. VanDePlank. He may have gone by Dr. Plank. He moved to Parsons between 1871 and 1885. He would have been a member of a Baptist Church, most likely. My father, now deceased, tells me that he once treated Jesse James. NOT that he want to, but as a doctor he had no choice.
