Ernest Obermueller
Recalls Performance
of Elkhorn Band

Lincoln Sentinel-Republican, 25 October 1951

An item which appeared in the Sentinel-Republican a week or so ago, chronicling the 56th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rahmeier, brought back some pleasant memories to Ernest Obermueller. The old Elkhorn Concert band was a famous organization in this section 50 or more years ago, and played at many of the events, social and otherwise, taking place during the period. Members of the band got wind of the Rahmeier wedding and proceeded up to the Rahmeier home near Sylvan Grove and thoroughly serenaded the newlyweds. The years have somewhat dimmed Ernest’s memory, but he is under the impression that Henry was well pleased with the thoughtfulness of the members of the band and provided them with generous treats, the nature of which, as far as Ernest can remember, was a keg of beer.
