Western TV Dramas Written
By Former Lincoln Resident

Lincoln friends of the Ross Curtis family will be interested to learn that Jack Curtis, a professional writer, has recently sold stories for such famous TV shows as Rifleman, Zane Grey Theater, Have Gun Will Travel, and others.
Acknowledging birthday greetings from [can’t read one word] Page, Ross Curtis wrote Mr. Page, telling of Jack’s recent success. Mr. Curtis was Ford dealer in Lincoln many years. He now lives at 1011 South Fremont, Ocean Side, Calif. Portions of his letter to Mr. Page follow:
“I’m writing with a ball point (year fill) Ross and Eileen sent me from San Francisco. Jack and La Vonne sent me an electric blanket.
“Do you have a TV? Jack is writing some of the westerns on The Rifleman, Zane Grey Theater and Have Gun, Will Travel. He’s sold six stories and gets $1750 each. He just got started good since summer. If you have a TV and see any of these shows, watch for his name at the end as writer or written by Jack Curtis.
“I got a kick out of a Zane Grey story. The hero said, “I came from Spillman Creek” (west of Lincoln). Then the hero from Rifleman met an old horse trader named Kansas. They were pretty good shows. He doesn’t write all of them so you’ll have to watch to be sure to see his name.
“Ross Jr. is doing fine, too, as a teacher in San Francisco high school.” …
“Than you again for your picture. I don’t know your birthdate or would bake you a cake.
“Your old friend, Ross E. Curtis.”
