Obituary of JESSIE L. ATKINS
Jessie L. Atkins

Jessie Louella Hess, eldest child of Daniel and Elizabeth Hess was born on September 18, 1892, in Morrellsville, Pennsylvania, and departed this life on November 5, 1968, at Bethel Hospital in Newton. She came to Peabody as a small child with her parents and they settled east of Peabody. she lived her entire life in Peabody except for a few years during the early part of her marriage, when she and her husband lived in the northern part of Kansas. She joined the Methodist Church at an early age. later joining the Baptist Church, of which she was a member at her death.

She was united in marriage to Clinton E. Atkins in Peabody on November 26, 1924. Mr Atkins preceded her in death on December 2, 1958. To this union were born five children; two daughters, Maxine Seibel Peabody and Marian Break, Marion, three sons, William D. Kansas City, Kansas. Paul L. Wichita, Richard of the home, who all survive. Also surviving are to sons-in-law, Ernie Seibel and Fonald Break, one daughter-in-law, Barbara Atkins, five grandchildren, David, Daniel, Kathleen and Michael Atkins and Cheryl Lynn Break; four brothers, Harry Hess, Burns, Donald M. Hess, Peabody, Roy Hess of Ault, Colorado, and Lester Hess, Fort Collins Colorado, two sisters, Ivy hess and Gladys Gough of Peabody, a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Baker Funeral Home, Friday November 8, with Rev. Lynn Smith officiating and burial was in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Norman Schmidt, Earl Wilbur, Tod Porter, W.J. McPheeters, Fr., Ed Truax and C.C. Seibel. Music was furnished by Mrs. R. A. Truax and Mr. Irvin McPheeters with Mr. D.M. Greene as organist.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hess, Fort Collins, Colorado, Mr. and Mr. Roy Hess, Ault, Colorado, Mrs. Albert Klose, Hillsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Break of Florence; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Break of Augusta, Mrs. Gene Considine, Sterling, Mr. Emery Seibel, Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Koegeboehn, Elmdale.


Card of Thanks

We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the many acts of kindness and thoughtfulness and expressions of sympathy through cards, flowers and food shown us at the time of need in the loss of our loved one. The curtain falls, we know now where or when, but God's love and care and the kindness of all make our bereavement easier to bear. God bless one and all.
