Obituary of LYDIA JENNIE HETT
Lydia Jennie Hett

Lydia Jennie Hett was born April 10, 1895 to John Hett and Mary (Kafton) Hett on a farm southwest of Marion. She passed away Saturday, January 29, in the Salem Hospital at Hillsboro at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 19 days.

She attended the Morning Star School and she was confirmed as a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in 1939. She was united in marriage with Eli James Peterson on October 24, 1912 in Marion. A short time after their marriage they moved to their farm home south-west of Florence where they lived the remainder of their lives.

To this union were born none children: Willard of the home; Mrs. Henry (Caroline) Bloomer of Peabody; Mrs. Olen (Edna) Angle of Braman, Okla.; Mrs. August (Helen) Sellers of Florence; Melvin of Axtell; and Clifford of Augusta. Three children, Ralph, Irvin and Elizabeth, preceded her in death.

In October, 1963, relatives and friends were with them in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. Peterson preceded her in death on January 16, 1964. Others who preceded her in death were her mother and father, three brothers, Loyd, Charley and Will, and one sister, Mrs. Will (Carrie) Woughlmouth.

She leaves six children, 24 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Otto (Henrietta) Vandenburg; Emporia; two brothers, Milton of Peabody and August of Marion, other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.

Services were held February 1, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Wayne Witcher officiating. Interment was in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Robert Sellers, Lawrence Angle, Darrell Phillips, Robert Ehrlick, Donald Bloomer and Jong Bloomer. Music was provided by J. M. Neuhauser, Ed Niclaus, Emil Heyland, Ernest Holler and Mrs Ada Wilbirt.
